Washington Named President at Jenkintown Rotary Club Banquet

On Tuesday evening June 19, John Washington was installed as President of the Rotary Club of Jenkintown at the Club’s banquet dinner at Manufacturers Country Club.  Washington was installed by former President John DiBenedetto. DiBenedetto also installed the Club’s new Board members:  Mathew Abraham, Steve Fitzpatrick, Bill Fonner, Chris Heaven, Harry Hoffman, Chuck Huntoon, Daniel Kaye, Beth Kenas, Bob MacFarland, Craig Polen and Joe Schlupp. President Washington thanked the outgoing Board members for their service and welcomed the new Board members. In 2017 Jenkintown Rotary Club made grants totaling $19,000 to local non-profits.
This year Jenkintown Rotary honored Center School, a non-profit school located in Abington that supports special needs students throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. For 29 years, Center School has been changing the lives and helping to realize the potential of bright students who have language and/or math-based learning differences. A highlight of the banquet was the presentation of $1,000 to Mindy Wawrzyniak, Head of School at Center School and Jim Bickley, Chairman of Center School’s Board of Trustees.
Jenkintown Rotary meets for lunch on Tuesdays at 12:15 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Grace Presbyterian Church in Jenkintown.
