Jenkintown Rotary President John Washington pins a club pin on Belgian exchange student Romain with his host Brian Wirtshafter, President of the Rotary Club of Abington at Edge Hill. Romain is one of the 8,000 students participating in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program in our district and around the world who travel abroad and spend a year attending a local high school. Jenkintown Rotarians met at lunch today to discuss how we can make our club stronger and better serve our community.  These Rotary Membership Retention Tips were passed around and voted on by the members. Numbers circled on the left got 7 "yes" votes or more.  Discussion included reducing our meetings to two times a month (first and third Tuesdays?) and having a social or service event on the months with five Tuesdays.  Some service ideas.  An interesting observation from a long time member: We had 138 members in 1972, four of which were under 30 and four of which were under 40. In 2018 we have 56 members. Average age is 67 years old and average membership is 28 years in Rotary.  |
