In 2012 ARM built four wells each of which brings clean water to 600 people. ARM has also started a preschool with 180 children, many of whom receive their only daily meal at the school. One of ARM’s more unique projects is called “Have a Cow”. Cows, critical to a family’s prosperity, were slaughtered along with people during the Genocide and have been slow to return to rural areas . Last year 10 families received a cow from ARM.
Jenkintown Rotary was able to raise its donation to ARM this year to $2,000 because of the success of the Club’s recent “Ride for a Reason” event co-sponsored with the Abington YMCA. Jenkintown Rotary meets for lunch on Tuesdays at 12:15 p.m. in Muyskens Hall at Grace Presbyterian Church in Jenkintown. More information about ARM can be found at www.ariserwanda.com.
